Courthouse Hotel, Shoreditch

Dazzled is an understatement of how we felt when leaving the Courthouse Hotel in Shoreditch. Who could have guessed that behind the small entrance on Old Street in the heart of the quirky area of Shoreditch is hidden an absolute gem of luxury and excess?

This Grade-II listed building is soon to be publicly opened after going through a massive refurbishment. The historical beauty of this hotel can only be truly assessed once you are aware that the building used to be a courthouse, hence the name. Many of the original aspects have been kept and optimised to be used by customers. Therefore the actual courthouse has become a beautiful events space boasting high ceilings and a glass dome which allows daylight to flood in. The police station has become the ground floor bar and restaurant, from which five prison cells have been refurbished into private sitting booths!

Many events spaces are also to be found in the premises of the Courthouse Hotel. From meetings and conferences to weddings and product launches, the hotel has a room to suit every need. We especially appreciated the Chamber Suite with its four-metre high moulded ceiling and plain blank canvas wall capable of hosting up to 900 delegates. The private members’ club bar with its vintage furniture and imposing wooden bar is also impressive. And with 128 beautifully modern rooms, there is plenty of accommodation.

The exciting history and incredible size of the hotel are however not the only characteristics of the Courthouse Hotel. The facilities it provides is enough to entertain your hosts for days: the health centre consists of a heated swimming pool, a spa and a fully-equipped gym, and the 180-seat cinema is perfect for any type of screening or conference. If that is not striking enough, the hotel also has its very own two-lane bowling alley for an event with a twist. After a long day a well-deserved drink can be appreciated on the rooftop terrace, which comes with its own barbecues and DJ-box for a once-in-a-lifetime party with incredible views over London.

This is definitely a one-of-a-kind venue that will leave you and your guests with stars in your eyes.
