Q&A with Amelie Marron - Agency Relationship Manager at The Brewery in London.

Tell us about your role at The Brewery and how long you’ve been there.

I joined the wonderful team at The Brewery about six months ago, although it already feels as if I have been here forever! As Agency Relationship Manager, my role is to establish and maintain connections with the many agencies and event management companies out there and to determine which of these we can work closely with in a way that is mutually beneficial. It's a position that involves a lot of wining and dining, being just a phone call away and knowing how to have a good old natter!

What’s the best thing about working at your venue?

The best thing about working at The Brewery is the quality of the events that we produce. There is an expert for everything here — floor plans, deliveries, bespoke menus, beverages, you name it! It means that you have absolute faith and confidence in the service you are providing to your clients, with a stellar team beside you.

How did you get into the industry?

After studying stage management at university, I realised that the theatre and events industries share a lot in common including the need to be organized, logical and one step ahead as well as the buzz that you get from a live show or event day! I set about doing all I could to get into events, completing an online diploma with The Event Academy and securing a job as Event and Wedding Sales Coordinator at Kew Gardens. The rest is history!

What’s the history of the venue?

The Brewery has been a centre of innovation for over 250 years. A former Whitbread brewery, it was once the largest beer producer in London visited by the likes of King George III and Queen Charlotte, after whom some of our rooms are named! The last pint was brewed in 1976, when the decision to convert The Brewery into a conference venue was made.

Whitbread, proud of its history, was anxious to preserve its architectural heritage, but it was equally important that the latest technical facilities should be available.  Both aims were achieved in a remarkable marriage of past and present, and The Brewery became one of London's, and the UK's, leading exhibition and conference venues.

Give us an interesting fact about the venue

The Smeaton Vaults, which are available for hire, used to be filled from floor to ceiling with free-flowing beer! You can even still see the little bridge in the Queen Vault where they used to come and test the porter, and the piping on the walls.

What’s the coolest event you’ve worked on, and how did the venue cope with it?

The coolest event that I worked on at The Brewery would probably be our Summer Showcase 2019, two days after I joined! We turned The Smeaton Vaults into an interactive Secret Garden dessert room with donuts hanging off trees, chocolate bark that you could carve off, a cocktail fountain and mushroom shaped sweets!

What events work best at the venue?

Events that work best at the venue are ones that take over the whole building, providing them with endless branding opportunities, numerous breakouts and limitless potential. The industries we work with the most tend to be tech, insurance, finance, e-commerce and publishing.

Why do clients choose to host events at your venue?

Clients choose to host events at The Brewery for many reasons: our excellent reputation, unique food and beverage offering, super speedy Wi-Fi, complimentary cloakroom and event management support are just some of them. Above all, however, I believe it is our expertise in the field that clients are drawn to. From the first phone call or email through to the site visit, logistics, event planning and live event day, they know that they can fully trust us to deliver an unforgettable event.

What are your venues top 3 USPs that separate you from other venues?
