The Mermaid - EC4V 3DB
The Mermaid is a peculiarly named conference centre situated in quaintly named Puddle Dock on the banks of the Thames. A former theatre The Mermaid is the perfect example of why you should never judge a book by it’s cover. From the outside it can best be described as an acquired taste, the inside however is a different story.
The centre piece of the venue is the 600 seat tiered auditorium which manages to be big and intimate at the same time. The stage itself is so large it can be used for sit down dinners for up to 200 guests, ideal for a slightly quirkier party. Unlike many other theatre venues breakout space isn’t a problem here. There is the Newgate Suite which can accommodate 330 in a theatre style and various smaller rooms. To say this venue has one centre piece is perhaps unfair for there are the two River Rooms, which as the name suggest offer views directly over the Thames. These rooms can be used for all manner of functions but are particularly suited to parties and evening events with their built in LED lighting systems and funky decor.
