ETC 155 Bishopsgate - EC2M 3YD
I genuinely thought this would be a difficult review to write. Firstly Etc Venues hadn’t held much appeal to me, I was under the impression that their venues were mundane and un-inspiring. Secondly my visit to 155 Bishopsgate was taking place after a visit and lunch at The Ritz. Talk about a tough act to follow. Anyway I now hereby solemnly promise to never judge a book by its cover again.
Etc Venues have hit the nail on the head, tapped into the zeitgeist, are on trend… you get the picture, what they are doing works. Hotels have long been trying to re-invent their conference and events offerings, with limited success. They should take a few leafs out of the etc book. Gone are the standard ‘3 x tea/coffee breaks’ instead the public areas are filled with expensive coffee machines dishing out wonderful Lavazza coffee. This means that the delegates/trainers/event managers choose when to take breaks, rather than work to the venues schedule. The food served is simply unbelievable, there are no soggy sandwiches here, onsite chefs prepare changing daily menus focused around brain food and healthy ingredients. This means that if you’re lucky enough to be here for a week long event you won’t be running down to Pret on day two.
155 Bishopsgate is a sole hire venue, that means it’s for larger events (generally 300+) and you’ll have the entire venue to yourself. The venue is comprised of a large public area, easily capable of accommodating 500+ delegates for breaks and networking. The foyer is light and airy, and features a unique Arktura lighting system, as well as 2 large video walls for branding and a cloakroom. There are three event spaces, the Bishopsgate suite, which seats 150 and can be split into 2 rooms is ideal for breakouts. The London Wall suite also seats 150 and has retractable walls so can be used to make the galleria/foyer larger and house exhibition stands. The plenary space is the Broadgate suite, which can take 550 in theatre style and comes with 3 built in projectors and screens. Thanks to space saving half-round tables the suite can also accommodate 350 in a cabaret style. Continuing the theme of flexibility the room splits into two, it also has large windows offering natural daylight.
There you have it, I’ve eaten my humble pie. Etc offers a fantastic portfolio of meeting & events venues. I can think of few better places to recommend in London if you are looking for a clean, professional venue for your next conference or training event.
